Social media has become a mighty servant in the hands of many

people these days and a lot are using it to their selfish benefits either for good or bad purposes. Our latest discovery on Instagram is about an upcoming model DressyJ.

HB gets up close and personal with  DressyJ who is  not too famous within the Haitian community, but has been featured with hip hop artist Cardi B and in a couple of Haitians videos.

HB- How old are you and where are you from?
DJ- I don’t usually tell my age lol… I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince.

HB- How and when were you discovered? Did you always want to pursue modeling?
DJ- I was at a friend car show in NYC, when one of the photographers approached me asking if I was one of the models shooting for the magazine, I said no I’m just here to help my friend, and he was like, you're gorgeous you should be out there shooting for the magazine instead, then he asked if I had any extra clothes with me. Knowing who I am, I always walk around with extra clothes and shoes when I’m going to an event. Long story short, we ended up shooting that, we exchanged contact, and we were working together for almost two years. I did a lot of music videos with him, a lot of magazines and of course a lot of photo shoots. All thanks to him. . .
Yes, I always wanted to be a model. I actually used to do fashion shows and photo shoots in Boston before I moved to New York.

HB- Are there any designers that you really like to wear? How would you describe your style?
DJ- I’ll say no not really. It’s not about what you wear or which designers you have on that matter to me, it’s about how you wear it that makes the difference.
B) My style is all about my mood for the day. It all depends on how I feel when I wake up in the morning. That’s why I never prepared my outfit the night before, because I don’t know how I'm going to feel when I wake up in the morning. But, I always keep it nice and simple.

Who do you admire the most in the fashion world?
DJ- I admire the designers' hard work, and how people put their outfits together nowadays, it’s more relaxing, it’s more about them now.

HB- What was your first big break in the fashion industry?

DJ- My first big break in the fashion industry was being a part of NYC fashion week.

HB- Must be a Klass fan (lol). You have some semi-nude shoots, how comfortable are you doing those shoots? Does the photographer have to push the envelope or no issue at all?
I feel very comfortable about my nudes especially when I'm shooting with someone that knows exactly what he's doing, and very professional. I never really had any issues.

HB- Your love life disappointments, couldn't it be just any man not just Haitian men?
DJ- Yes, you’re right, it could be any man, but my worst heart breaks came from Haitian men. Nothing against my Haitian men, I just feel like I’m not lucky with them when it comes to dating, that’s why I want to take a break from them. I still love them though.

HB- Your biggest disappointment so far?
DJ- My biggest disappointment so far is my love life, and the fact that I keep giving people second chances when they don’t even deserve it.

HB- What’s your plan for the next 5 years?
DJ- My plan for the next 5 years is to work towards my goals, and becoming an international model like always dream and start a business.

HB- Anything you want to say that I did not ask?
DJ- To all the youth out there: don’t let no one tell you that you can’t. Don’t let them stop you from doing what you love, and be aware that critics always are always going to be there, just don’t let it discourage you. Keep pushing, stay humble, be smart, be very careful out there, cause this world is crazy.
Last but not least, please stay in school.
